Cantina di La-Vis e Valle di Cembra bears a name and logo that reflect its links with the land and its ancient winemaking traditions.
Like the town it lies in, it takes its name from the river Avisio, cascading from the surrounding peaks with all the energy of the spectacular natural landscape that Vis, the Latin word for strength that forms part of that name, so aptly describes...
The Lavis winemakers cooperative traces its origins to 1850, when the Cembran family built the initial core of the current production unit.It was formed officially in 1948 by 14 independent winemakers and grew in the years that followed, due partly to acquisitions of other producers, including mergers with the Salorno Cooperative, of South Tyrol, in 1969and Cantina Sociale di Cembra in 2003.
Winemakers must be conscious of factors that make the environment in which they operate unique and ideally suited for winegrowing, with the objective of producing wines that are capable of evoking their region of origin. This is the spirit that led La Vis to develop the Zoning Project, an interdisciplinary project that aims to identify the ideal environment necessary to produce wines of the absolute highest quality...
I Classic of Cantina La Vis form a representative selection of typical Trentino wines, a true expression of the link between vineyard, terrain and people - a perfect synthesis of man and environment in a union of lab, passion and expertise. The “Quality Project” and “Zoning”, which guarantee “the right vine in the right place”, exploit the characteristics of the terrain to ensure that the right conditions for producing wines of unchallenged quality are present from the outset
Answers by Chief Winemaker Ezio Dallagiacoma
1 - The history of creating your favorite white (yellow) wine.
Trentino region and the valleys in which our vineyards lie are expecially vocated for the cultivation of white grapes. Chardonnay, Müller Thurgau, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon find the perfect terroir to express at best their character.
2 - Do you prefer (it's important for you) the color of the wine?
The color is the first impression you have approaching a glass of wine, so it’s very important.
3 - What is your favorite wine (red or white)? And why?
My favourite wine is Ritratto, a very special red wine.
4 - List, if possible, a set (gift box) of four or six own wines (red and white), which, in your opinion, can worthily represent your farm.
Ritratto + Diaol Chardonnay + Vigna delle Forche Muller Thurgau + Vigna Saosent Pinot nero
5 - Your choice for the "Yellow Road" (you can give 1-2 white wines)?
My choice is Diaol, a very special Chardonnay.
The precious vineyards where the grapes are grown for Diaol are located in three areas of the Avisian hills at different altitudes ranging between 270 and 330 m above sea level. This wine creates a multitude of sensations in the mouth, and has a tense and determined flavour in which salinity and crunchiness stand out to complete a rich and persistent finish.
6 - You can offer the most beautiful view (favorite point) on vineyards or the surrounding landscape.
See photos, please
7- In which restaurant or café in Trento tourists can taste your wines? What would you recommend to try (what kind of food)?
You can go for a great aperitif to Bella Vita cafè, in the center of Trento.
8 - Who is the author of your wine labels RITRATTI series?
It was a communication agency, on the basis of the Segantini’s paints.
9 - Your vineyards are located in fantastically beautiful places. Have you thought about building your own tourist route for your vineyards?
We offer guided tours to our wineries and vineyards, so people can touch the very essence of our work, from the grape to the bottle.
10 - What is your favorite holiday? And do you have a tradition how to celebrate it?
I like trekking through our amazing mountains.
11 - Which white wine producer (from Italy or another country) would you recommend for the "Yellow Road"?
I highly recommend Cantina di Terlano, Alto Adige.
